Chorley Hospital

Day Case and Eye Care Unit

The £17.5 million expansion at Chorley and South Ribble Hospital is a four-storey, state-of-the-art extension at Chorley Hospital.

The development brings together the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s Day case and eye care unit, with three new theatres. Two of these will be for ophthalmology – which deals with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of eye diseases – and a third for treatment that doesn’t need overnight admission.

The Trust made the decision in to move to using Trend systems across their estate after previously using another BMS manufacturers equipment.

The system provided is based on the Trend IQ4 range of controllers which also integrate to the BACnet chiller, Fire Alarm system and Modbus DX units, Heat Meters and Electricity Meters.

“We are really pleased to be able to provide this additional facility which will help us to improve patient experience.”

Dr Geraldine Skailes Medical Director, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

The systems controlled and monitored include three Theatre AHU’s with full temperature and humidity control complete with local surgeons control panels, LTHW, DHW and CHW systems, extensive energy and electricity metering and monitoring of various essential systems including the new Generator and Fire alarm.

The user is able to monitor and manage all the connected systems via the supervisor graphics pages loaded onto the existing IQ Vision supervisory and management software.

OCS are proud to have been able to contribute to the development of this much needed updated facility and look forward to supporting the Trust in it’s on-going operation.
